Micromatic LLC Senior Product Development Engineer in Berne, Indiana
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Development:
o
Perform design and development of cutting-edge designs using 3D modeling software
o
Ensure application requirements are fully met, and all designs are released error-free with appropriate tolerances
o
Verify engineering and ERP BOMs match prior to release
o
Conduct and participate in design reviews, following up to ensure all action items are resolved
Multi-Project Management:
o
Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring adherence to program objectives
o
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing effectively and delivering on deadlines
o
Provide timely updates to the Actuator Product Development Manager, proactively addressing challenges or delays
Technical Cross-Functional Collaboration:
o
Partner with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, sales, and marketing, to ensure seamless execution of projects
o
Share technical expertise and mentor team members to promote knowledge transfer and skill development
o
Apply in-depth understanding of cost-effective manufacturing processes, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GDandT), machining, and performance calculations to enhance product
designs
o
Utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate and optimize actuator designs for performance and reliability
o
Support customer engagement initiatives, such as trade shows and technical presentations, by providing engineering insights and expertise
o
Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation in alignment with departmental standards
Continuous Improvement and Technical Expertise:
o
Mentor other design and engineering personnel to strengthen team
o
Stay informed about emerging industry trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements, especially in hydraulic and pneumatic systems
o
Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reduction, and product innovation
o
Contribute to organizational compliance with global material regulations, including EU REACH, RoHS, SCIP, Conflict Minerals, and CA Prop. 65
Education, Skills and Experience:
Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
Experience: Minimum of seven years in product design and new product development within a manufacturing environment
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, or ability to acquire knowledge quickly
Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and project management tools (e.g., MS Project)
Proven track record of managing multiple complex projects efficiently
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated adaptability to changing project demands and priorities
