Position Overview:
Oversees all clinical medical physics services provided in the cancer center. Provides technical and consultative services in the areas of patient radiation safety, treatment planning, machine/radioactive source calibration, and technological advancements for department growth. Actively involved in clinical, and educational development, and advancing the research missions of the department, with an emphasis on assisting in developing and implementing new technologies. Oversees the maintenance, standardization and advancement of radiation safety, treatment planning and delivery and Quality Assurance programs. Manages the dosimetrists and physicists in the group in terms of their technical abilities and contributions. Helps perform physics tasks on a continual basis and dosimetry tasks when needed.
Job Description :
Daily supervision for Physics and Dosimetry staff.
Serves as a department resource for radiation safety and serves on the radiation safety committee.
Develops and maintains physics/dosimetry-related departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety standards.
Manages and leads Physics and Dosimetry accreditations and works with department staff to reach successful accreditation status.
Assists in credentialing radiation oncology department for participation in clinical trials (QA check for Intensity-Modulate Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS)/ Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT), and 3D for participation in clinical trials).
QUALITY AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT.
Actively works in support of regulatory compliance assuring the department maintains accreditation compliance with state and federal regulations.
Provides technical direction in the specific treatment modalities, including Brachytherapy, external beam via conformal, SRS/SBRT, or Rapid Arc/IMRT, and systemic radiation therapy.
Provides technical direction in conjunction with the radiation oncology physicians to incorporate all modality-specific devices used during the delivery of radiation treatment, including the Radiosurgery and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy program.
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT.
Implements programmatic structure for expansion of oncology services and organ motion management.
Works with radiation oncologists and cancer center leadership to identify and implement new technology for the strategic growth of the cancer program.
Assists in radiation oncology department-specific Information Technology, including system integration, EMR maintenance and upgrades, electronic imaging, and shared drive management.
SERVICE STANDARDS.
Conducts all aspects of radiation therapy physics, including clinical medical physics, support, equipment calibration, commissioning, quality assurance, radiation safety compliance, and regulatory/licensure.
Develops and executes competencies for Physics and Dosimetry and works with Lead Radiation therapists to develop training for staff.
EDUCATION:
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
Master's: Masters in Radiological Physics or other physics, chemistry, or engineering discipline
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
- ABR-American Board of Radiology Upon Hire
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
- Six years of recent relevant experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Leadership experience that is demonstrated through interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
Expertise with Aria, Eclipse, Radiosurgery, Stereotactic Radiosurgery, Remote Planning, Interstitial Brachytherapy, and Intracavitary Brachytherapy is essential.
Advanced knowledge of Varian accelerator Exactrac CT Simulator High Dose Rate Brachytherapy preferred Eclipse Treatment planning system.
Promotes a culture of consistency and safety.

Pay Range is $112.13 to $179.40 / hour
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
