As a ‘Solution Design Specialist – NC OSS’ ensures to support the integration of monitoring, provisioning and orchestration functions which underpin BT’s NC cloud . By doing so, you will help to streamline the processes, improve efficiency, and ultimately enhance the ability to deliver high-quality services to end customers.

What you’ll be doing

• Provides technical quality assurance over work of other engineers through matrix team structure.

• Creates and implements technical solutions for a domain or cross domains / portfolios of work within a specific technology area autonomously, understanding how solutions impact systems internally and/or externally and assessing impact of change.

• Provides sound technical expertise to consult on significant component(s) of a technical solution within a specific domain or cross domain.

• Identifies opportunities to improve standards of practice within a project, continuously enhancing ways of working.

• Delivers resolutions to problems that tend to be complex, cross-domain or of high impact to customers.

• Identifies opportunities to improve standards of practice within a project, continuously enhancing ways of working.

• Develop and maintain architectural diagrams, design specifications, and process diagrams that support changes to Monitoring platform applications.

• Manage development timelines and ensure that development teams meet project milestones

• Provide design support for troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and bug fixes.

• Assist in creating Agile user stories based on business requirements.

• Offer guidance and support to development teams during the analysis, development, and testing processes.

• Review designs created by component teams to ensure they align with best practices.

• Foster relationships with senior management and development leads on the OSS Monitoring platform.

• Driving efficiency and cost reduction through defining Brilliant and Simple requirements to the supplier and other BT systems

Quality

• Ensuring rigorous, scalable and highly available solutions to underpin the OSS tooling stack.

Delivery

• Deliver high level designs in timely fashion in time.

The skills you’ll need to succeed

• Systems thinking - You provide technical expertise to evaluate the impacts and links between structure, people, process and technology. You think through the whole systems context, new perspectives and insight before taking on projects.

• Technology design - You partner with the business to understand and analyse user requirements and inform the architecture design for software, systems and networks.

• Technology excellence - You build and apply insight about emerging technology to develop and deliver new digital solutions. You break complex information down into understandable language.

• Be agile - You identify opportunities to use collaborative approaches and continuous improvement. You contribute to projects as a subject matter expert or content owner.

Experience you’d be expected to have

• Solution design experience in inventory management, network diagnostic, Network monitoring.

• Good understanding of CMDB, Network Orchestration, Telecom Network Inventory (TNI), Reporting and Workflow.

• Experience in designing, building, and maintaining monitoring solutions for Cloud based network functions (Alerting, Correlations, Orchestrations, Logging, Inventory)

• Experience working in an Agile environment using JIRA & Confluence tools

• Make decisions in ambiguous situations using incomplete information or differing opinions (eg divided team loyalties or unclear deliverables).

• Aligned project plans and objectives with BT strategy and values

• Actively participated in strategy setting sessions

• To suit the needs of a customer, colleague or client; moved outside of expected process or practice

• Been a spokesperson for others on issues of integrity

• Cross-functional collaboration

• Strong team player but also able to work independently without supervision
