Google Senior Engineering Manager, Search and Compliance in Bengaluru, India

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.

  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience delivering results and making progress in a fast changing ambiguous environment.

  • Experience with managing teams working on platforms or infrastructure development.

  • Ability to articulate, influence, and drive changes across multiple teams and stakeholders.

  • Excellent organizational design skills, with the ability to mentor and coach managers and other senior leaders in the team.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and inclusion skills.

Software Engineering Managers have not only the technical expertise to take on and provide technical leadership to major projects, but also manage a team of Engineers. You not only optimize your own code but make sure Engineers are able to optimize theirs. As a Software Engineering Manager you manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop your team. With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

The team establishes principles to apply across diverse systems, data, and processes. These principles include enforcement points for critical Search data flows, data minimization, managing assets for data governance, enforcing principle, reducing the severity of PR incidents, and aggregating user feedback to characterize emerging risks.

  • Manage a team of Search engineers with high visibility and impact.

  • Define and evolve the charter of the team with a balanced portfolio of foundational investments, exploratory bets, and run the business priorities.

  • Work with multiple partner stakeholders and adapt to fast changing regulatory environments.

  • Plan and deliver on multi-quarter roadmaps with incremental milestones.

  • Develop leaders and ensure career growth within the team, mentor, coach, and ensure inclusion and psychological safety is built into the team's culture.
