Come join Earth’s most customer-centric company! Amazon is looking for a highly motivated, technically inclined Security Operations Manager to lead a security operations and incident response team. You need to be comfortable working in a fast paced technical, and at times, ambiguous environment.

This position supports security engineers performing activities, including monitoring, detection, and incident response (MDIR). You will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating security engineering activities for a wide range of products, services, and events. You will drive issues to resolution across numerous service teams. You will need a combination of troubleshooting, technical, and communication skills, as well as the ability to handle an assortment of disparate tasks which may include projects and software development work.

An ideal candidate for this role will be able to work at all levels, from the theoretical knowledge of security principles to the practical application and real-world implementation of processes and measures.

Key job responsibilities

• You will own building, developing, and managing a growing team of security engineers who perform many tasks, such as: monitoring, detection, incident response, detection engineering, operational excellence, threat hunting, threat intelligence, and projects.

• You will navigate complex security problems and drive relevant teams to take the right actions in the right time frames.

• You will manage the entire security event lifecycle, including communication and escalation.

• You will provide your team technical guidance and help with creating solutions.

• You will help your team balance technical complexity against business needs and be able to articulate issues and mitigations to members of leadership at various levels.

• You will develop key performance metrics, prioritize tasks, create and implement short and long-term roadmaps and visions, and build strong relationships with our customers and partners.

• You will write, review, and deliver high-quality documents for technical and non-technical audiences.

• You will develop a healthy and collaborative culture and enable the team to deliver results.

• You will work closely with other global security operations teams.

• You will ensure effective teamwork, communication, collaboration, and commitment across global teams with competing priorities.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years experience leading, managing, and developing high performance security teams and 5+ years of hands-on experience of information security domains and technologies such as, monitoring, detection, incident response (MDIR), endpoint detection and response (EDR), automation, vulnerability management, threat hunting, and threat intelligence.

• Well versed in making complex trade-off recommendations and decisions and strong information security and team prioritization abilities.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• BA/BS in computer science, information security, related discipline, or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate degree in a related field.

• CISSP, CISM, CISA or similar professional certification.

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up recommendations and drive actions.

• Experience triaging security issues/vulnerabilities and ensuring that they are properly understood and managed.

• A self-starter who can take general direction and produce specific results. When the resources are not immediately available, you seek alternatives.

• Experience with Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence.
