Cloud Database Security Development and Operations

Department Description: Would you like to contribute your own ideas on how to smartly develop and operate large scale distributed Database-as-a-Service offerings for the public and private clouds? Oracle’s Database group designs, develops and operates the Database-as-a-Service platform that drives Oracle's Database, Engineered Systems, Oracle Public Cloud, Oracle PaaS and SaaS offerings. This team is a provider of public cloud database and infrastructure management software and helps companies manage platform resources to deliver service, quality and availability, as well as workloads in private and hybrid cloud environments.

The Database Cloud Platform team is responsible for designing, developing and delivering the Oracle Database Product on Public Cloud Platforms. These range from designing and developing:

  • The Service frameworks to host Oracle Database in OCI Public cloud

  • The Provisioning layer for Customers to create and perform life-cycle management of the Database in public cloud

  • The Monitoring systems which would detect any security or operational issues and rectify / alert operations

The Database on Public Cloud is a strategic platform and the service features are designed to manage customer environments at an extensive scale. This is a distributed team with locations in US, Oracle’s India Development Centre (IDC) Bangalore and Mexico Development Center (MDC).

Brief Posting Description : We are currently looking for highly motivated engineers with systems knowledge to work in the Database Cloud Platform Security Development and Operations team. This person would be involved in architecture, design, prototype, development and delivery of the various aspects of Database on Cloud releases security area. The position is open for our India location.

Qualifications and experience: B. Tech or M. Tech (CS)

  • 5+ years of development experience

  • 3+ years of experience in python development

  • Strong knowledge of python frameworks, SDKs, JQL, REST APIs and libraries

  • Knowledge of Java, JavaScript and the AngularJS framework is a plus.

  • Knowledge of cloud deployments and virtual environments.

  • Understanding of databases and SQL

  • Database Management knowledge and understanding of the Database eco-system.

  • Knowledge in security areas is a plus.

  • Experience in writing secure code and fixing issues reported by static/dynamic tools.

  • Expertise in RBAC - User, Group and Password Management, Cloud SSO, Strong Authentication, Identity Provisioning, Identity Governance, Privileged Access and Identity services.

  • Encryption and key management technologies, deployment methodologies

  • Understanding of cloud security vulnerabilities & preventive measures

  • Experience with security tools like Fortify, Coverity, Nessus, Qualys, Black duck, and dependency checker tools

  • Experience with cloud IaaS or PaaS development including REST APIs

  • Experience programming with Java, Python or PERL

Responsibilities:

Work on features for Database on Public Cloud Platforms, which includes but may not be limited to the following:

  • Work closely with senior developers for designing and developing Database Cloud features including security areas

  • Development contributions to projects that deliver secure, scalable, extensible and differentiated Platform-as-a-Service on the Cloud

  • Work with development and operations for security issues review and resolution

  • Work on root cause analysis of security-related issues on the Database Cloud platform

  • Work with development and operations for security issues review and remediation

  • Provide support for the tools developed by the team

  • Demonstrate reasonable expertise in software development and development of automation

  • Implementing the unit testing and debugging practices

  • Adhering to the security standard methodologies

  • Help design and implement enhancements/functional requirements and suggest improvements

  • Manage testing and bug fixes of the software developed in the team

  • Prepare design documents for software development features

Responsibilities

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.
