Job Description

Design, develop, fix and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very sophisticated, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8-15 years of software engineering or related experience.

In OCI Compute Services team, we are building new Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment

We are looking for hands-on engineers with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in many areas – such as distributed systems, virtualized infrastructure, highly available services, and DevOps Services in the Cloud for areas like Repository, Build, Orchestration Pipeline and Deployment. If this is you, at Developer Services is a chance to define and build our innovative new services and systems from the ground up. These are exciting times in our space - we are growing fast, still at an early stage, and working on ambitious new initiatives.

As a software engineer, you will own driving software architecture for major components of Developer Services. You should be a distributed systems generalist, able to architect broad systems interactions, while being very hands-on, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and lower level system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the architecture and technical design of key areas of the product.

  • Partner with product and program management leadership to deliver the product features on time and with high quality.

  • Drive technical solution development and provide direction to engineering teams.

  • Collaborate with other product and services teams.

  • Proactively identify and resolve risks and issues that may dent team’s ability to implement.

  • identify operational gaps and design solution to mitigate it.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field

  • proven experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.

  • Solid understanding of C, C++ or Java, and experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, etc.

  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.

  • Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.

  • Linux system knowledge and Operations knowledge.

  • Strong understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage and distributed persistence technologies.

  • Strong fixing and performance tuning skills.

  • Experience with operational support on Cloud would be a plus.
