Technology Architecture and Modernization

Technology Architecture & Modernization (A M) unites a highly inter-connected set of functions in a pivotal role driving the over-arching technical framework, product delivery and developer enablement teams at the center of Morgan Stanley's technology strategy. Role Description

Morgan Stanley has been at the forefront of the AI journey with applications such as Genome and AI@MS Assistant that use AI to provide better, personalized advice to our clients. Generative AI provides unique opportunities to provide new capabilities to the firm's internal users as well as our clients.

This role is for a senior Technical Lead who will help lead a team of engineers to build a firmwide AI Development Platform and drive adoption of AI capabilities throughout the enterprise. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of platform architecture and engineering, data engineering and AIML capabilities including Generative AI. A strong understanding of the overall capabilities required to successfully deploy AI/ ML applications such as AI/ ML models, cloud service provider capabilities, 3rd party vendor capabilities, MLOps / LLMOps, vector databases etc. is a key requirement. The candidate will have a passion for helping our users deploy AI to increase productivity as well as help generate new ideas for product improvements.

Primary responsibilities

o Partner with business application teams to understand their requirements for Generative AI o Have a platform mindset and drive common, reusable solutions to scale Generative AI use cases o Work with the product owner and the engineering team to deliver the vision of the platform o Work with the engineering team to deliver tooling and self-service capabilities for AI solutions o Collaborate with users on the developer experience when building and deploying AI applications o Build a strong SRE culture to manage and scale a large platform with thousands of users o Contribute to major design decisions and product selection (build vs buy, 3rd party Vendor vs Open Source etc.) for building Generative AI solutions

Required Skills

o Understanding of the AIML domain in general, latest developments and trends in Generative AI o Understanding of AIML capabilities on the major cloud providers Strong hands on Application o Experience building products with multiple users in an enterprise setting o Development background in atleast one prominent programming language, preferably Python o Experience with Information Security, concepts such as Defense in depth and zero trust o Demonstrated experience in DevOps, understanding of CI/ CD. o Understanding of ML Ops/ LLM Ops o Ability to articulate technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences o Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a global organization and across time zones o Experience working in a large regulated industry such as Financial Services, Insurance etc.

Desired Skills

o Understanding of how deep learning, neural networks works, difference between AI and ML o Understanding of Machine Learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch o Experience working with cloud providers, preferably Azure, but also AWS, GCP o Broad understanding of data engineering (SQL, NoSQL, Big Data), data governance, data privacy o Understanding of Responsible AI, AI Ethics Qualifications o Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent job experience o 12 years of experience in software development or related field
