Citigroup Assistant Vice President - Foundational Data Management in Bengaluru, India

What the role is

We are hiring for the position of Assistant Vice President in Foundational Data Management, based in Bangalore, India. In this role, you will be a key individual contributor, responsible for developing and maintaining critical data assets that support Citi’s business intelligence and analytics initiatives. You will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in your area, with a deep understanding of data and its lineage. While not maintaining a team directly, you will mentor junior team members and oversee their deliverables, ensuring high quality output and adherence to best practices.

Data Driven. You have a proven track record of enabling decision-making and problem solving with data. Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation and data driven approach.

Technical Expertise. You possess deep expertise in data management, with strong SQL skill ad proficiency in data management concepts.

Business Translator. You excel at understanding business requirements and translate them into technical specifications for data asset development.

Data Lineage Expert. You have a comprehensive understanding of data flows and can effectively map data lineage across complex systems.

Mentor and Guide. You’re passionate about sharing knowledge and cultivating growth in others. You have experience mentoring junior team members and can provide technical guidance effectively.

Strong Communicator. You can communicate verbally and through written communication with clarity, and can structure and present your work to senior leadership.

Process and Controls Oriented. You develop robust processes and controls to address risk and seek propagate that culture as a core value within your sphere of influence.

Clear Results Orientation. You display a keen focus on achieving both short- and long-term goals and have experience driving and executing an agenda in a demanding and fast-paced environment, with an eye on risks & controls.

Collaborative Partner. You built trusted relationship with partners and stakeholders across the organization and work effectively with cross-functional teams.

What you do

Requirement Gathering. Collaborate closely with business teams to understand their data needs and objectives.

Data Exploration and Analysis. Thoroughly explore available data sources, assess their quality and relevance, and identify gaps in existing data assets.

Specification Development. Create detailed mappings and technical specifications for data asset development, ensuring alignment with business requirement and data governance standards.

Technology Partnership. Work closely with technology teams to guide the development of data assets, providing subject matter expertise throughout the build process.

Build Data Assets. Develop and build multi-dimensional data assets that captures abundant information about various line of business.

Process & Controls Orientation. You develop strong processes, and indestructible controls to address risk and seek to propagate that culture to become the core value of your team.

Dashboarding and Visualization. You develop insightful, visually compelling and engaging dashboards that supports decision making and drive adoption.

Quality Assurance. Test and validate of developed data assets to ensure they meet business requirements and quality standards.

Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing. Provide technical mentorship to junior team members, sharing your expertise in data management and business technology collaboration.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of work experience largely in the Business Intelligence & Data Management

  • Strong knowledge of data modelling concepts and excellent SQL skills

  • Hands-on experience in one or more big data technologies is a plus

  • Proficient in at least one programming language such as Python, PySpark or SAS

  • Experience with data visualization tools and techniques

  • Experience mentoring junior team members and overseeing project deliverables

  • Experience in the banking or financial services industry preferred
