Job Title: Interventional Radiology (IR) Coordinator Department: Interventional Radiology Location: Bend, Oregon. Job Summary This position will schedule and obtain or verify (as appropriate for a given exam/office) pre-authorization for all exams scheduled by the IR Scheduling Team. This includes but is not limited to interventional procedures, spine clinic, vein clinic, biopsies, exams performed by physicians and physician extenders (excluding women's imaging) as well as pre and post procedures requested by the Interventional Radiologists. This position will work with insurance companies to obtain/verify pre-authorization as well as the billing department to resolve insurance appeals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Other duties may be assigned. This position requires regular reliable attendance. This position requires a high level of attention to detail and accuracy, knowledge and confidentiality. Other duties as assigned. 1.Coordinates and manages all procedure scheduling performed by CORA's Interventional Radiologists and Physician Extenders (excluding women's imaging) as well as pre and post procedure clinic visits. 2.Creates and manages clinic and procedure scheduling templates for outpatient offices. 3.Works closely with St. Charles staff and within their EHR (EPIC) to schedule procedures for CORA's Interventional Radiologists and Physician Extenders taking place within the walls of a St. Charles facility. 4.Obtains or verifies the insurance prior authorization for all procedures scheduled by the IR Coordinator or referred by CORA's Interventional Radiologists and Physician Extenders. 5.Ensures the entry of pre-procedure and follow-up procedure orders in Excel Tracking Spreadsheet. 6.Makes pre-procedure calls to ensure patient readiness for their procedure. 7.Performs procedure follow-up calls as instructed. 8.Act as point person for the billing department to resolve insurance appeals. 9.Answers and triages phone calls from patients, referring offices and co-workers regarding procedures scheduled by IR Coordinator. 10.Make in-person appointments with patient at the IR Clinic. 11.Must be available to interventional radiologists (sometimes after hours) by cell phone (stipend provided by CORA). 12.Sync with interventional radiology coordinator at OHSU regarding shared patients (mostly cancer patients). 13.Other duties as assigned. 14.Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with referring physicians and nurses, patients, and co-workers. 15.Ability to work cohesively and cooperatively with others and as part of a team is essential. Education and Experience A minimum of two years' experience in a medical office environment; specific experience with pre-authorization and scheduling for radiology preferred. Must be detailed oriented, able to exercise good judgement and work under pressure. Must be familiar with medical terminology and experience with Excel, Word, Radiology
