The Community Behavioral Health Hospital (CBHH) in Bemidji, is seeking a passionate, person-centered individual to join our team as a Behavioral Assistant. Bemidji CBHH is a (16-bed) short-term, inpatient psychiatric hospital for adults experiencing acute mental health challenges. The average length of stay is usually less than 60 days, during which treatment focuses on assessment, stabilization, skill development, and aftercare planning involving community support resources, with the overall goal of preventing future episodes. Duties may include:
Provide coaching and guidance to patients and staff based on an understanding of the underlying function of behavior through observation, data collection and under the clinical supervision of Mental Health Professional(s).
Conduct skill development activities through individual and group interventions using demonstration, behavioral rehearsal, positive approach, skill generalization and motivational enhancement based on patient readiness for change.
Assist patients in developing skills necessary for return to the community by using motivational engagement techniques, instruction, role modeling, rehearsing, and applying behavior management strategies.
Assist in the communication of expectations of Support Plans with the ability to shift between input from staff, patient, and treatment environments to develop the plans.
Minimum Qualifications
1 year of relevant experience providing the following:¿¿
· ¿Providing services using person-centered approaches¿¿
· ¿Planning and facilitating therapeutic activities ¿¿
· ¿Documenting progress in activities and interventions ¿¿
· ¿Providing and reinforcing skill building in individuals¿¿
¿¿¿
¿* 1 year of relevant experience requirement may be substituted by a bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or behavior analysis; the experience requirement also may be substituted by a bachelor’s degree in human services or a related behavioral health field that includes substantial behavioral health coursework such as: individual or group counseling, clinical interviewing, clinical assessment, crisis intervention, or similar behavioral health courses.¿¿
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience caring for adult clients with severe and persistent mental illness in a residential or hospital setting
