The Stratasys Summer Internship Program is designed to give interns a holistic view of what Stratasys has to offer from a multitude of departments. Our 12-week paid program begins in May and goes through mid-August. During the program, interns are embedded in real-time projects, which they contribute to or even lead depending on their experience level. Our campus team helps to educate, train, and grow our interns through monthly activities such as 3D printing training, lunch & learn seminars, and coffee talks with department leaders. We also host off-site team-building activities to promote networking among the group through volunteer events.
The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will support our 3D printers FDM, SLS, and other powder bed technologies in a manufacturing setting. You will develop processes and procedures and conduct continuous improvement (kaizen, time studies, value stream mapping) projects in a manufacturing setting. The intern will also design manufacturing aids that can be used in the manufacturing setting.
Location: Belton, TX
What you will be doing:
Validating FDM "annealing" improves material properties
Study FDM spool humidity and the effect on mechanical properties
Review MJF and SAF maintenance procedures and document retention practices Author and release formal procedures for any non-controlled procedures
Investigate secondary processing and quality functions and operations. Quantify lead time to support updated pricing and areas we can expedite processes
Study SLS, MJF, and SAF secondary processing to quantify typical lead times and document standard procedures, finishes and acceptance criteria
Support process development of newly acquired equipment and capabilities
Must have for this role:
Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
Basic understanding of manufacturing and product manufacturing processes
Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
Local to Belton, Texas or able to relocate without assistance to the Belton, Texas area
This role is on-site five days a week
Nice to have:
3D printing experience
Prior internship experience
Strong problem-solving skills
Preferred Major(s): Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Technology Engineering, Operations Management
Travel Requirements: < 5% between Stratasys Direct sites in Texas, Arizona and Minnesota
