LAW Advocates Executive Director in Bellingham, Washington
ORGANIZATION: Healthy communities depend on equal access to justice, but nearly three-quarters of low-income Washington residents do not get the legal help they need to solve fundamental legal issues. POSITION: Executive Director
RESPONSIBLE TO: Board of Directors
SALARY: \$84,000 annually, plus employer-paid health insurance, vacation, and sick leave.
HOURS: Full-time expectation. Flexibility on schedule. Quasi-remote permitted (the nature of the job does require some physical time in the office and in the community)
DUTIES: The Executive Director is responsible for implementing LAW Advocates' strategic plan and vision and working in partnership with the Board of Directors. The Executive Director will oversee all facets of LAW Advocates operations, including the deployment of legal services, budgeting and finance decisions, administration and supervision of staff and volunteers, and establishing and sustaining relationships with the Whatcom County community and community partners. A non-comprehensive list of specific duties include:
Work with staff, committees, and community members to identify unserved or underserved needs in the community and working with the same to develop systems and programs to meet those needs;
Oversight and management of current grants;
Identifying and applying for new grants;
Establish and develop system for recruiting attorney volunteers;
Establish and develop relationships with the Whatcom County Bar Associations and the Whatcom County Judiciary;
Establish and develop relationships with key funders and intrastate organizations, such as the Legal Foundation of Washington, the Office of Civil Legal Aid, the Washington Pro Bono Council, Skagit Legal Aid and other civil legal aid non-profit organizations;
Oversee and manage staffing needs to ensure fulfillment of individual job duties and organizational goals; and Oversee operational aspects of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field required. Active law license (from any state) preferred.
Non-profit management experience strongly preferred.
Excellent PC-based computer skills. Experience with QuickBooks preferred.
Excellent organizational skills. This includes a demonstrated ability to implement projects with
a commitment to a high-quality work product and to prioritize competing tasks and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment.
