FinTech at Amazon is an organization where people, technology and innovation come together to build products and solve problems for the broader finance organization. The Receivables technology group at FinTech builds services that are used companywide for Cash Authority and apply receipts automatically. This group is building teams in Vancouver, CA and New Jersey to develop next generation services that will be used widely across the company. If you are passionate about building on AWS and of using modern techniques such as serverless application development, large scale event and data processing, machine learning for matching and automation at scale to drive innovation in the Receivables space, this is the team for you.

We are looking for a Software Development Manager to lead a team of software engineers in our Vancouver, CA and New Jersey offices. Our ideal candidate is customer focused and enjoys the challenge of highly complex business contexts that are typically being defined in real-time. You will be a passionate builder of talent and teams. As a Manager within Finance Technology you will help set the vision for a new suite of technology that will enable thousands of global Amazonians continue to be Earth's Most Customer Centric Company.

In this role you will be responsible for creating world-class finance systems that support Amazon's global footprint. The systems we own are responsible for trillions of financial events and payment flows that would rank among the largest countries in the world by GDP. You will ensure that engineering best practices are followed and that software is designed to be highly-available, dynamically scalable, and resilient to continuity threats.

As a technology leader, you will drive architectural and design choices and invent new features. Key job responsibilities

Develop and own product vision, strategy and roadmap.

Build and manage a team of software engineers.

Execute projects within an Agile/Scrum environment

Participate in business reviews with executive leadership and provide status updates.

About the team

AR Cash Application processes 12M+ ($95B+) customer payments per year, with a YoY increase of 24% for AWS, Advertising, Transportation, Amazon Business, etc. Automation is critical for such volumes, as every 100 bps (1% in volume) requires FinOps to hire 28 cash analysts to process them manually. Timeliness and accuracy are the top goals for FinOps AR and Auto Cash Application (ACA) is a FGBS goal for FinTech YoY. Cash Identification and Matching Service (CIMS) is a home-grown cash application solution designed to be the sole auto cash application system and will replace the Auto Cash Application (ACA) capability in OFA and Cimarron AR ledgers.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

  • Bachelors Degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
