Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a Federal Programs Resilience Lead to provide business development, subject matter expertise, and program support to our existing FEMA account team, related company-wide Strategic Growth Opportunities, and targeted resilience and adaptation initiatives. In this national role, you will have the career-defining opportunity of working with other industry experts and highly skilled staff under a shared commitment to establishing Stantec as the national leader in hazard mitigation assistance and disaster recovery program services.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Participate as member of the FEMA account management team. Support account planning, budgeting, opportunity identification, capture and positioning activities, proposal development, and cross business line coordination.

  • Participate in a leadership role supporting Stantec’s Strategic Growth Initiatives (SGIs) and Opportunities (SGO’s). Coordinate with existing SGO teams and cross business line representatives.

  • Provide business development and technical support to program-level resilience and mitigation contracts, sector pursuits, and related business line opportunities with preference to: Federally funded hazard mitigation assistance and related disaster recovery support to new/existing

  • Federal, State, Local, and Tribal Territory clients.

  • While the primary role focuses upon nationwide or regionally scaled contracts, some localized project and program support is anticipated. This includes research, development and implementation of other complimentary adaptation / hazard mitigation related top-line growth initiatives.

  • Coordinate with other Stantec leaders and staff across the US Federal and existing Business Operating Unit Lines including Water, Environmental Services, Infrastructure, Buildings and Energy. Develop and participate in business sector resilience outreach in a manner that builds sector capacity and capability to support the full lifecycle of Emergency Management services.

  • Participate in leadership supporting our national, regional, business sector and business center marketing and business planning efforts, that includes identifying key resilience related opportunities, target clients, and implementation of strategies toward securing transformational work.

  • Participate in the implementation of the business plans including assembling teams and recruiting outside partners.

  • Support responding to proposals including identifying win themes, assembling the “right” team and expertise, framing project approaches and developing competitive budgets.

  • Supervise, coordinate and review the work of other assigned project professionals.

  • Coordinates with others to promote QA/QC deliverables.

  • Author articles and present at strategic conferences and events that advance Stantec’s brand, reputation, and overall market share.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Highly familiar with FEMA hazard mitigation assistance, recovery programs, infrastructure grants, climate adaptation objectives, and policies related to the agency’s Emergency Management and missions.

  • Highly familiar with other Federal Agency programs related to hazard mitigation and advancing resilient projects to implementation, including initiatives and policies related to mitigating and adapting to the impacts of natural hazards and climate change. Industry relevant technical knowledge including the integration of nature-based solutions and green infrastructure elements is preferred.

  • Highly proficient in critical thinking, problem-solving, writing, teaching, and public speaking.

  • Possess business development skills necessary to maintain and grow excellent client relationships.

  • Comprehensive understanding of the consulting business and risk assessment process.

  • Recognized as an independent expert resulting in attracting clients.

  • Demonstrated project management skills, including but not limited to:

    • Scoping work
    • Establishing schedules
    • Project plan development
    • Routine tracking/reporting throughout project implementation
  • Possess high attention to detail with proven time management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to professionally and positively communicate in writing and verbally across a variety of stakeholders with varying technical understanding.

  • Capable of presenting to a variety of audience sizes on a wide range of projects.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Experience and Education

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience including supervisory experience and providing resilience, adaptation, disaster recovery / mitigation related services.

    • Minimum of at least 5-years in a leadership role.
  • Minimum Bachelor of Science Civil (BSCE) or Environmental (BSEE) Engineering degree or related field.

    • Advanced degree preferred.
  • License and/or Certifications: Professional Engineering License or ability to obtain within first year of employment; APA, AIA, PLA, Project Management Professional (PMP), Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) and Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certifications are nice to have but not required.

Work Environment / Other Inputs.

  • In office as needed. Working from home is available.

  • Travel Expectations: Some travel will be required (up to 30%), such as to meetings with clients, internal teams, or partners. Travel may require overnight stays, including stay in remote locations. Assume higher travel expectations during disaster deployment periods to be determined by client and project needs.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • 155,200 - 232,700 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in WA and DC

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.

  • Washington state employees are eligible to accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked except for Seattle employees who accrue sick leave in accordance with the city’s paid sick leave law.
