Principal Engineering Manager – Microsoft Teams Lifecycle

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to spearhead our efforts in meeting lifecycle. The candidate is expected to operate in a fast-paced environment, build a high functioning team, solution & design thinking, customer focus, and the ability to deliver results. This position is with the Microsoft Teams Calling, Meetings, and Devices team which tackles the toughest challenges in the collaboration and productivity space with customer driven shipping timelines by collaborating with multiple partner teams on technologies across the company and beyond. Meeting lifecycle team covers functionality provided in Teams to users prior to the meeting, in-meeting capabilities and post meeting capabilities. We aspire to digitize every meeting and provide our customers with rich content within the meeting and after. Enabling not just those who attend the meeting but those who did not attend the meeting to benefit from what is discussed in a meeting. Responsibilities

  • Be a leader in driving the meeting lifecycle engineering team.

  • Be customer obsessed. Understanding and anticipating the needs of our customers in a changing business and technology landscape is critical.

  • Strong commitment to customer success. We have hundreds of millions of users that depend on Teams for their daily work. A great deal of focus is on ensuring these customers are successful with the solution.

  • Have a great understanding of web & desktops applications, deep understanding of the competitive landscape and usage scenarios. Product vision and ability to plan + design various features in stages to reach the end goal in an evolutionary way is critical.

  • Drive execution and demonstrate end-to-end ownership of complex, cross-group and cross-discipline projects to successful completion

  • Create an inclusive and fun work environment where every employee engages effectively.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of Software Engineering experience with track record of driving multiple products/versions from inception to delivery. Hands on experience with TypeScript and Reactis required. Experience in native app development is desired.

  • 5+ years of management experience working on highly distributed, matrix organizations.

  • Knowledge of end-to-end Software development life cycle and desktop/web platform.

  • Experience in automation strategies and technologies for web/hybrid applications.

  • Ability to work in large teams and mentor new developers to the team

  • Strong knowledge of computer science, algorithms, and design patterns

  • Ability to appreciate complex problems with a thorough design and experience collaborating with multiple partners on common goals.

  • A degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
