Overview Environmental Technician - Position will support installation and sampling of groundwater monitoring wells and will involve field inspections of construction sites, industrial facilities and MS4 storm drain infrastructure; storm water and non-storm water sampling; NPDES storm water permit compliance; municipal storm water ordinance compliance; and reporting. This position will also involve environmental site assessment activities associated with maintaining, sampling and installing erosion control features, soil gas probes, and stormwater inlet/outlet features. Responsibilities Sampling of dry weather surface flow, stormwater, groundwater, soil, and soil gas; Installation of erosion control features, soil gas probes, and groundwater monitoring wells; Stormwater compliance inspections for construction, industrial, and municipal sites; Implements tasks under direction. Meets quality and quantity goals. Maintain equipment calibration logs; Operation and maintenance duties; Light construction ability; Assists in field environmental quality assurance and compliance issues; Record field notes for the specific task performed; Ability to operate, and maintain soil and groundwater remediation systems; Prepare and stage field equipment and supplies; Inspect equipment and materials for defects, troubleshoot as necessary; Clean and calibrate equipment and instrumentation; Responsible for maintenance of office vehicle; Stormwater compliance inspections for construction, industrial, and municipal sites; Coordinate and ship equipment and supplies to vendors. Qualifications Position Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty at an above-satisfactory level. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred. Proficient in data management and reporting using Microsoft Word and Excel. Operate light, medium, and heavy equipment. Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Read and interpret results of sampling/monitoring equipment. Reason through problems and faults to arrive at safe and prompt resolution. Maintenance and repair of sampling/monitoring and mechanical equipment. Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions/ manuals, and procedure manuals. Reliable, dependable, and reports to work on a consistent basis. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers and management.
