Amazon Design Program Manager, Worldwide Real Estate Building Design in Bellevue, Washington

Description

Amazon is seeking a Design Program Manager to create sustainable building design products through coordination with stakeholders for customer fulfillment and logistics building programs. The successful candidate will support cross functional teams by creating Amazon’s design criteria and building design templates that govern the design of these technologically advanced facilities. The right candidate will demonstrate a track record of creating products that simplify recurring business problems in an extremely fast paced environment that has a high degree of ambiguity. Responsibilities include: architectural, structural, civil, electrical, mechanical, low voltage, signage, and incorporation of storage and material handling designs by other internal teams.

Key job responsibilities

  • Support a multi-disciplinary team that is creating sustainable, efficient, economical, and standardized customer fulfillment and logistics building designs in North America

  • Coordinate and collaborate with a wide variety of internal operations, design, and engineering stakeholders to increase the efficiency and efficacy of the building design program.

  • Demonstrate performance that serves as a model of excellence establishing business requirements, design team collaboration, and stakeholder alignment.

  • Direct third-party architects, engineers and designers responsible for creating the building design templates (i.e. prototypes) for customer fulfillment and logistics buildings.

  • Support workshops that drive alignment on key issues for new building designs and initiatives to drive the associate experience, operational efficiency, and reduction of first and lifecycle costs.

  • Conduct technical reviews of building models to develop efficient workflow practices. Improve production, procedures, visualizations, standards, and methodologies to increase efficiency and quality.

  • Provide project support for operations network buildings including fulfillment, sortation, and/or last mile facilities.

  • Drive compliance of Amazon's worldwide design standards.

  • Develop strategic building solutions which meet or exceed our quality requirements and drive value engineering and standardization across all aspects of the facility.

A day in the life

  • Own a small program. Manage difficult and/or cross functional technology projects/goals. Work is tactical. Define program requirements and help create products that resolve operational issues. Accelerate progress by driving timely decisions. Clear blockers, escalates appropriately. Makes tradeoffs of time vs scope vs cost.

  • Manage complex, multi-disciplinary technical programs with competing priorities (cost, schedule, feasibility) with broad cross-functional teams

  • Validate technical program management, and organizational skills

  • Improve project and process efficiency. Optimize cross-team processes to improve efficiency and delivery. Create design products and procedures for integrated system of design, criteria specifications, and design package delivery.

About the team

Amazon Worldwide Real Estate Building Design (WWBD) is the single-threaded-owner of concept building design and technical solutions for the Worldwide Operations (WW Ops) Network. WWBD creates industry leading logistics building designs that are cost effective, innovative, safe, sustainable, and efficient for WW Ops real estate building programs in North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia Pacific, and Middle East & North Africa regions.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Basic Qualifications

  • Architect with 5+ years of Technical Architect experience

  • Experience with building design and construction project management, including programming, design, construction, and operations, as well as project planning for scope, schedule, and budgets.

  • Demonstrated expertise in software programs for BIM360, Revit, Bluebeam, and/or AutoCAD

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in architecture, architectural engineering, or business

  • Architectural Registration, Professional Engineer Registration, CEM and/or other building professional accreditation

  • LEED AP BD+C and/or PHIUS+ certification

  • PMP certification

  • Experience with dRofus, BSD Speclink, Asana, arcGIS and/or AWS products

  • Proven experience implementing and managing a building design program including development of templates (aka prototypes), technical specifications, and design standards

  • Technological strategy knowledge and understanding in support of architectural innovation in the industry

  • Dive Deep to help understand product processing and integration with buildings

  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous situation and navigate blockers and deliver projects

  • Invent and create simplified products to support customer goals.

  • Strong competency with time management, organization, and attention to detail

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $64,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $155,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
