Core Component Design Manager TerraPower, LLC. is seeking a highly motivated Engineering Manager to manage engineering efforts of the Core Component Design (CCD) team and join the Core Design and Methods management team for the Natrium reactor project. This role will manage the Core Component Design group and focus on execution to assure technical adequacy in accordance with company, contract, and industry standards, with an emphasis on equipment design. The CCD Manager will support the Natrium Core Design system in functional-related matters, including technical support, training, staffing requirements and personnel performance. This people manager role is expected to allot ongoing and on-demand technical contribution that ensures appropriate performance of project(s) technical scope. Responsibilities Keep Core Design and Methods Senior Manager and engineering management informed of major emerging technical issues. Interface with regulators, stakeholders, and customers on discipline design issues. Support any complex analytical work to be performed and provide project support for the work. Assist in the continued development tools for the discipline. Recognize the need and recommend obtaining external subject matter experts. Ensure periodic meetings with discipline engineers to ensure appropriate communication of discipline and project information within project purview. Assist in developing the engineering staffing plan for the discipline using input from the project, including maintenance of load boards for discipline personnel. Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and indoctrination of new discipline engineers within the CCD group. Recommend staff changes (replacements due to attrition, new requirements, de-staffing). Assist in resolving priority conflicts in conjunction with the projects when issues arise that compete for resources. Elevate those that cannot be resolved to the Senior Manager level. Support employee development through mentoring, training, and challenging assignments within the specific program engineering efforts as assigned. Assist in the development, maintenance, and use of discipline guidelines (e.g., design criteria, design guides, desktop instructions, design notes). Perform self-assessments of work processes and technical adequacy. Inspect and provide oversight of technical tasks deliverable within project and discipline areas or responsibility.
