As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will be responsible for understanding and mining a large amount of data, building metrics, finding answers, and creating solutions. The team will look to you for advice on analytical and business issues facing them. You should be a self-starter who knows BI tools and enjoys working with data, and who thrives on implementing creative approaches and dealing with the intricate complexity of large data sets.

What You’ll Do:

  • Interfacing with key business customers, gathering requirements and delivering complete BI solutions to improve Private Brand performance to Chewy’s customers

  • Interfacing with technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources and ability to use a programming and/or scripting language to process data for modeling

  • Building metrics to analyze key inputs and outputs, use both quantitative and qualitative reasoning to break down complex problems into actionable plans.

  • Recognizing and adopting best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation

  • Exhibit a strong sense of ownership, bias for action, and superior communication skills; be willing to roll up your sleeves to get the job done.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or equivalent work experience

  • 2+ years of relevant working experience in an analytical role involving data extraction and analysis

  • Knowledge and direct experience using business intelligence reporting/visualization tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau, etc.)

  • Experience data modeling and transformation of large-scale data sources using SQL, or other Big Data technologies

  • Understanding of different database technologies (i.e., Vertica, SQL Server, Snowflake etc.).

  • Some knowledge of scripting for automation (e.g. Python)

  • Excellent analytical skills with demonstrated experience turning data into actionable insights.

  • Passionate about building functional and engaging customer experiences.

  • Cross-functional leadership experience.

  • Ability to multi-task and work well within a dynamic, fast-paced organization

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, people-oriented attitude.

Compensation & Benefits:

Our salary range for a Business Intelligence Engineer II position is $115,500.00 - $183,500.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly team members accrue paid time off (PTO) while salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
