Located in Belleville, Clara Maass Medical Center is a facility of RWJBarnabas Health and provides a complete continuum of care to residents of northern New Jersey. With over 700 physicians and 2,100 employees, we offer advanced treatment for a wide variety of medical conditions. Our facility includes centers for advanced wound care, sleep disorders, bariatrics, orthopedics cardiac services, cancer care, emergency services, and more. In 2017, the Medical Center completed a state-of-the-art campus expansion featuring a new four-story 87,000 square foot building with a private, 32-bed Intensive Care Unit, new Main Entrance and Lobby, Retail Pharmacy, Patient Registration Area and a recently expanded Emergency Department.

We are currently looking for a Lead Medical Technologist to work Full-Time/Nights, facilitating team processes. The incumbent will do so by working in collaboration with team members to ensure that tasks are completed and team priorities, goals, needs, and achievements are coordinated with department management. The incumbent will utilize the Laboratory Information System, as well as be responsible and accountable for the following duties:
Prepare reports; maintain records, and administrative information.
Coordinate and present work-related information to supervisor.
Research qualitative and quantitative methods in the laboratory area.
Conduct studies and recommend changes to correct deficiencies and improve design work-flow to accomplish objectives.
Coordinate training in the methods and techniques of the laboratory.
Write and revise all Standard Operating Procedure manuals in section.
Review all results in section (including results from off-hour and weekend shift(s) for correctness as required by CAP, directs involved technicians/technologists in the correction of errors and notifies attending physicians as appropriate.
Responsible as a primary source of information for maintaining current instrumentation.
Ensure compliance with rules and regulations of assorted regulatory agencies such as CAP, JCAHO, AABB, and OSHA. Coordinate Quality Control activities with the Lab Director.
Generate laboratory results into the laboratory computer system; Edit and verify the results recorded.
Evaluate the validity of data in relation to the test system and assay procedures; correlates quantitative data with patient data to verify results.
Perform additional tests to clarify or confirm abnormal patient results; recognize abnormal results which require immediate attention by the physician and report them directly.
Be required to work every 3rdweekend
Have the ability to work variable shifts as needed.
Perform related duties, as assigned.
In addition to the specific duties and responsibilities described above, the ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:
Advanced in your knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of medical technology to perform the full range of duties involved in planning, coordinating, and evaluating laboratory services.
Aware of quality management standards.
Knowledgeable of accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements pertaining to laboratory operations.
Familiar with statistical evaluation and analysis.
Apt in laboratory quality control/assurance policies, procedures, and principles, as well as safety practices and regulations.
Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate in clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical or biological Sciences, OR meets NJ Sanitary Code Chapter 44, Chapter IV, 8:44-2.6 Technologist qualifications.
MLT or MT (ASCP).
2 years of clinical lab experience.
Previous Lead Tech experience preferred.
Customer service oriented.
Intermediate computer skills, excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work variable shifts as needed.
