Job Summary
Perform repair and maintenance activities on city sewer lines.
Job Scope
No supervisory or budgetary responsibilities.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean out clogged sewer lines utilizing a high power hose.
- Replace broken sewer lines and install sewer lines for new connections. Dig up sewers as necessary.
- Clean out catch basins using vactor trucks.
- Repair and maintain department equipment. Change oil, lights, filters, hoses and tires on department trucks.
- Put solvents, degreasers and deodorants in sewers as needed.
- Drive and operate all equipment necessary to perform work.
- Break up, pour and repair concrete to complete sewer line repairs.
- Haul rock and dirt to and from site as needed.
- Clear snow and ice from sidewalks and catch basins in the city.
- Maintain manholes including cleaning, raising sunken manholes, setting back-up valves, and installing new manholes.
- Must carry a pager and be available for emergency on-call duty.
- Adheres to proper safety techniques and utilize safety equipment.
- Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner which promotes good working relationships with clients, customers, co-workers and supervisors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
