DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Corrections Automotive Mechanic Trade Instructor, your goal is to teach inmates valuable skills they can take with them when they transition back into society. You will provide structured vocational training in the automotive mechanic trade and closely supervise inmates during classroom and on-the-job training. Work is assigned through work orders, which may include accompanying diagrams, charts, sketches, and schematics. You will independently determine the procedures, tools, equipment, and materials to be used by inmates in carrying out assignments, and you can expect to be responsible for the care, custody, and control of inmates during training and work assignments. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 40-hours per week Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Employees new to the Commonwealth will start at the minimum salary listed. This position is eligible for retirement at age 50/55. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Four years of experience in the diagnosis, maintenance, repair, and replacement of various components and systems used in automobiles, trucks, or construction or heavy equipment; or Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the automotive mechanic trade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the automotive mechanic trade.

Special Requirements: All positions require an active Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning Technician Certificate issued by an approved provider. All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license. This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Emissions Inspection certification and an active Pennsylvania Class 7 Inspection Mechanic certification for class C vehicles and any other class of vehicles used in the facility.

Other Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
