STORE ASSISTANT

Operations Department, Belfast Cooperative

FLSA STATUS/PAY LEVEL: Nonexempt/1 REPORTS TO: Store Operations Manager

JOB SUMMARY: This position is cross-trained to support the essential functions of Front End,

Facilities, Stocking and other front-line roles. Duties may include cashiering, carry out, stocking,

facing, receiving, cleaning and sanitizing, shoveling snow, packaging bulk products, and filling the

role of greeter as needed. The Store Assistant is expected to reach proficiency in advanced

processes as trained, and perform miscellaneous tasks as directed.

This position works directly with the public and is expected to comply with current state and

federal protocols including face coverings.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES - all responsibilities listed are considered essential functions of the

position.

? Cashiering Check out customer purchases in a friendly, accurate, and timely manner.

Provide all register services according to approved policy. Provide accurate accounting to

the bookkeeping department. Balance cash drawer within the guidelines of acceptability.

Practice excellent cash handling. Follows Maine State laws including regulations for the sale

of alcoholic beverages.

? Stocking (Produce, Packaged Grocery, Bulk): Ensures that product is faced, rotated,

stocked according to department procedures. Prep, stock, and attractively display a

well-balanced product mix throughout shift,according to established department

standards. Follows established department guidelines and management direction to

ensure that products are prepped and displayed appropriately, to meet customer demand

and minimize shrink. Repack bulk items in an efficient manner following all sanitary

protocols.

? Facilities: Performs custodial tasks throughout shift to ensure overall store cleanliness and

safety as directed

? Deli: Assist with kitchen tasks, including prep, cleaning and organization of the Deli area,

and other tasks as directed.

? Store Ambassador: Greets customers at the front door to explain guidelines for entering,

sanitizes carts, and keeps track of how many customers are in the store as necessary.

? Meat & Cheese: Handling meat and cheese products, weighing and stickering products,

providing customer service at service case as directed

? Other duties throughout the store as directed and as needed

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS - all staff are expected to practice the following:

? Accuracy in time reportingminimal errors in electronic time reporting; begin work

immediately after punching in.

anticipated schedule changes according to department procedure.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

? Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication).

? Excellent command of spoken and written English.

? Effective communication skills; ability to work closely and cooperatively with others.

? Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and establish and maintain cooperative

working relations with peers, employees, vendors, and the public.

? Ability to analyze and anticipate situations, define problems and objectives, recognize

alternatives, and formulate solutions, including implementing new systems and protocols.

? Demonstrated flexibility and excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize work,

function independently, and remain calm and focused under stress.

? Time management skills sufficient to independently establish priorities and complete

critical tasks in a timely manner, with appropriate attention to detail.

? Ability to ensure compliance with applicable laws and Co-op guidelines, policies, mission,

goals and practices.

? Commitment to identifying customer needs and maintaining and supporting the Co-ops

customer service vision.

? Ability to exercise good judgement and discretion in handling confidential materials and

matters.

? Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

? Knowledge of the Cooperative Principles and Cooperative Business module.

? Experience working with ECRS Catapult

? Experience with POS and spreadsheet programs sufficient to communicate and prepare

reports with accuracy
