Stantec Principal Ground Engineer in Belfast, United Kingdom

Redefine your personal best

Stantec is looking to appoint a Principal Ground Engineer to join our growing team in Belfast.

Across the entire business, we’re building on top of what’s already been a highly successful period of growth. Our strategy within the water division for 2024 and beyond is to create a number of new exciting opportunities in the business. We partner with the top water clients across the UK & Ireland, work on some of the largest, most iconic water projects in the industry, and we promise to design with the community in mind by reducing environmental impacts and improving social impacts. We enable the delivery of sustainable development and infrastructure projects that adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change.

We’re looking for someone to help shape our ground engineering services (geotechnical and geo-environmental), deliver technical outputs, and support the growth of our team. You will play a fundamental role within projects to identify innovative and sustainable solutions, plan technical delivery and lead the multidisciplinary team from concept stage through to final implementation. You will work alongside the Project Manager to deliver best value and client service excellence.

You will have access to Stantec’s world-class expertise to help you deliver leading-edge design.

Based in Ireland or Northern Ireland, you will be the regional lead for the ground engineering team and will work with our national UK & Ireland team and support Project Managers and Project Technical Leads by providing technical expertise to ensure that projects are delivered to cost, schedule, technical and quality standards to meet both client and Stantec expectations. You will lead the ground engineering team and contribute to the growth of the practice in Northern Ireland and Eire.

This is a key role within our team, and there will be ample scope to develop, with the opportunity to set the direction of your own career path around our growing project portfolio.

About You

You will be degree-qualified in a relevant engineering subject (e.g. geotechnical engineering, hydrogeology, geology or a related subject) with Chartered / Incorporated membership status. You will have experience of delivering Geotechnical design projects and have a strong understanding of UK & Ireland geology & geotechnical / geo-environmental principles. Exposure to water industry construction projects would also be beneficial.

You will also be experienced in leading, developing and coaching staff and be capable of fostering new & existing stakeholder relationships.

As we look to further diversify and grow our wider Stantec UK & Ireland business, you will potentially be presented with future opportunities across our diversified business lines.
