Role Definition

Analyzes and develops transportation plans to control the movement of production components from suppliers to our manufacturing or distribution network to ensure the smooth running of operations at optimal transportation cost levels.

This role will also involve Project Management in line with LEAN and Six Sigma principles and have a good command of English and presentation skills to a wider and international audience. A good understanding or exposure to Transportation Management Systems and SAP is also desirable.

The person also must be comfortable with change management and strong communication skills.

A candidate with min 8 years of logistics and international transportation experience and holding a Bachelor’s degree is preferred

Responsibilities

• Analyzing transportation plans and identifying opportunities for improvements to meet client needs.

• Implementing and maintaining monitoring systems to provide information on shipment status, shipped date, in transit location, estimated arrival date, and actual delivery date.

• Generating and analyzing reports of transportation costs, carrier performance and lead times.

• Assisting in the development of process flows to track lead time by activity and providing solutions to reduce lead times.

• Lead projects applying Lean principles and Six Sigma.

• Management reporting and presentation

Level Working Knowledge:

Decision Making and Critical Thinking : Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Applies an assigned technique for critical thinking in a decision-making process.

• Identifies, obtains, and organizes relevant data and ideas.

• Participates in documenting data, ideas, players, stakeholders, and processes.

• Recognizes, clarifies, and prioritizes concerns.

• Assists in assessing risks, benefits and consideration of alternatives.

Relationship Management : Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers and conduct monthly business review

Transportation - Knowledge of and experience with the means of transporting materials and goods to and from suppliers, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities and customers the manufacturing facility.

Level Extensive Experience:

• Demonstrates expertise with all major modes of transportation (international)

• Shares approaches for assessing transportation alternatives and selecting optimum mode.

• Conducts joint planning with carriers to forecast short- and long-term transportation needs.

• Works with shippers to plan for and mitigate the transportation capacity crunch and during crisis

• Negotiates and monitors rates and service controls with major carriers.
