Amazon is seeking a proactive and result oriented Accounting Manager to help support our payments and customer rewards accounting based in Beijing. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with worldwide Amazon accounting teams to ensure high quality and timely deliverables. This role should have a solid understanding of US GAAP, tech backgrounds of finance/accounting related automation projects, excellent communication and organization skills, including the ability to anticipate, identify and communicate risks to business stakeholders, as well as a passion to continuously enhance processes.

Key job responsibilities

• Supporting various aspects of our accounting and reporting process.

• End-to-end process ownership to support finance and business partners.

• Understand internal control design concepts sufficient to assess the effectiveness of controls in their area and to design new processes and controls for emerging and growing business activities.

• Execute judgments to keep projects moving and ensure the right decisions are reached to close the books each month.

• Escalating risks and issues as necessary to leadership.

• Strong sense of ownership.

• Ability to identify process improvement and automation opportunities to drive positive change across the organization.

• Lead delivery of accounting tasks and projects.

• Enhance partnerships between Accounting and various business and IT groups.

• Collaborate closely with Accounting and our Technology teams to drive standardization and automation regionally and globally.

• Research, conclude and memorialize technical accounting position papers.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience

  • Experience communicating results to senior leadership

  • Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients, or experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions

  • University degree in business/economics/accounting

  • Experience working with IFRS or US GAAP

  • Demonstrable ability to work to tight deadlines on critical projects

  • Detail-oriented yet able to reflect on and understand the big picture

  • Fluent in business English, both verbal and written

  • Must be comfortable working in cross-functional teams and in a fast-paced global company

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience with an emphasis on accounting, preferably, gained within an accounting firm or a medium to large international company, in a fast-paced and changing environment;

  • 6+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience;

  • Knowledge of payments or customer rewards accounting

  • Knowledge of Oracle Financial Applications and SQL/ETL

  • Hold CPA or similar credentials

  • Experience in project management with exposure to Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and software testing

  • Strong priority management and communication skills
