Saint-Gobain Regional Training and Development Manager in Bedford Park, Illinois

What’s the job?

Travel 50%

This role will be responsible for developing and managing comprehensive training programs across multiple sites within the region. This role will focus on building out training matrices, emphasizing safety, employee development, and operational excellence. This role will ensure that employees are empowered to self-assess their training needs and communicate when they require additional support.

Training Program Development:

  • Design, implement, and maintain training matrices for all roles within the region, ensuring alignment with company standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with site managers and subject matter experts to develop training content that is relevant, practical, and engaging.-

Employee Development:

  • Identify skills gaps and collaborate with department leaders to create targeted development plans.

  • Implement training programs that support career growth and succession planning within the organization.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, adjusting as needed.-

Empowerment and Communication:

  • Develop processes that enable employees to confidently declare their level of training on specific machinery or processes.

  • Encourage a culture of open communication where employees feel empowered to request additional training or support.

  • Regularly assess and address any gaps between training provided and employee confidence levels.-

Training Delivery and Coordination:

  • Coordinate and deliver training sessions, workshops, and seminars, both in-person and virtually.

  • Manage and train a team of site-level training coordinators to ensure consistent training delivery across the region.

  • Maintain records of training activities, attendance, and progress, ensuring accurate documentation for compliance and reporting purposes.-

Continuous Improvement:

  • Regularly review and update training content to reflect changes in processes, technology, and industry best practices.

  • Lead initiatives to continuously improve the training program, leveraging feedback from employees and management.-

  • Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure all training programs meet or exceed regulatory and company standards.

  • Prepare and present reports on training effectiveness, safety metrics, and employee development progress to regional leadership.

  • Safety Training:

  • Collaborate with Group Safety Manager on training, procedures, and policy creation and deployment.

What do you bring?

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in operations management or business administration manufacturing or Engineering,

  • Preferred: -BS Engineering, such as mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering

  • 5+ year’s experience in production environment that utilizes WCM or related systems.

  • 5+year’s experience with lean manufacturing principles, quality management systems, production processes, and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training software.

  • Six Sigma or Lean experience in a manufacturing environment with technical competency in TPM, DMAIC, DFSS, Lean, Kaizen/Work-out, process management, change management and advanced statistical techniques.

  • Strong understanding and knowledge of the People Development Pillar and WCM methodology.

  • Certification in Training and Development (e.g., CPTD, ATD).-
