Based out of our Bedford, NH (preferred) or Boston, MA office, you will have the opportunity to work on wide-variety of large scale aviation design projects including plan preparation, design development, and quantity take-offs, while collecting and evaluating important project data. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
In this role, the Civil Engineering professional will support aviation civil engineering projects at general aviation, commercial and military airfields with a focus on quality, and perform in a team environment. This role supports our growing New England aviation practice with access to broader nationwide projects within Jacobs. Such projects include, but are not limited to airfield improvements, land/site development, drainage, and other transportation tasks. The professional will:
• Perform quantity takeoffs, computer modeling, design calculations, and plan set production for commercial and general aviation airports.
• Design horizontal and vertical geometry, drainage calculations and sizing of systems, pavement markings, fence line layouts, project phasing and under the guidance of others, pavement design for aircraft.
• Work closely on project assignments with those of other engineers and technicians in his/her discipline group.
• Work under the supervision of senior staff to produce quality design and plans and interpret plans from other engineering related disciplines (survey, drainage, structural, etc.).
• Observe project action on site, representing the engineering team in the field and performing construction administration and management
• Be a self-starter and responsible for quality work products, bringing ideas to our project teams and striving for your own professional growth.
• Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering
• Strong analytical, conceptual, communication and organizational skills.
• Registered EIT (Engineer-in-Training) or have the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
• Ability to efficiently utilize time in executing assigned tasks accurately and on time.
• Valid driver’s license
Ideally, you’ll also have:
• Previous design intern or co-op experience
• AutoCAD skills, including Civil3D
• Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• A passion for airports and aviation
• Experience with the FAA Advisory Circulars related to civil engineering
