Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Patient Safety RN is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS ) Patient Safety Program. The Patient Safety RN assumes direct responsibility for incident investigation and identification/management of areas considered to be patient safety concerns. The Patient Safety RN acts as a consultant to physicians and staff on matters of quality of care and patient safety opportunities. The Patient Safety RN serves as a member of the patient safety team which aims to reduce risk to patients served by MCHS and ensure quality of care in a constantly changing health care environment.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) OR Associate Nursing Degree with experience as below.

Preferred/Optional: None

EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required: Five years’ nursing, risk management or patient safety experience in health care . Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred/Optional: Non-clinical nursing experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: Current State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or Nurse Compact License. Certification in Patient Safety (CPPS) through Board of Professionals in Patient Safety within 24 months of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.

Preferred/Optional: Certification in Patient Safety (CPPS) through Board of Professionals in Patient Safety at time of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire. Certification in risk management or health law.

Currently a hybrid position and is flexible to locations across MCHS.
