Arkema Inc. is actively recruiting for a Process Technician to support our Beaumont facility. At Arkema, Process Operators monitor and operate equipment and facilities, including field equipment, insuring quality and conformance with standard operating procedures. As a Process Operator you will be responsible for operational control of one or more pieces of process equipment in one or more units. In addition, maintaining 100% compliance with all applicable environmental and safety laws, regulations, and permit requirements is imperative to our daily operations. Daily responsibilities in this position must be done in an ethical manner with safety as the primary responsibility.

The Beaumont Plant is located in Southeast Texas about 30 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico and is about one hour drive east of Houston. Our facility is responsible for the production of methyl mercaptan, ethyl mercaptan, dimethyl sulfide (DMS) and methylmercaptoproprionaldehyde (MMP).

This position is responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Supports the Board Operator and production process by performing tasks outside your assigned unit.

  • Observes instruments, meters and gauges to verify specified conditions and record readings.

  • Operates pumps, compressors, fans, dryers, control valves and other equipment to achieve optimum operating conditions and product quality.

  • Makes rounds on a periodic basis to verify safe and efficient operating conditions and to identify maintenance needs.

  • Responsible for troubleshooting and mitigating abnormal parameters on process and utility equipment.

  • Responding to emergencies in the process by way of isolating equipment, depressuring, purging of equipment, containing releases, etc.

  • Assisting in the preparation of equipment for normal maintenance, shut down and start up, and returning the equipment to service. This consists of clean up, lockout/ tagout, permitting, blinding and pressure testing of equipment.

  • Participates in Environmental, Health and Safety programs as set forth by the company.

  • Actively assuming personal accountability for meeting Arkema's standard of continuous personal and professional development.

To be considered for this role, the following is required:

  • Associates Degree in Process Technology or related discipline OR 3 plus years of industrial manufacturing experience (may include military experience).

  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.

  • Must be willing and able to work 12 hour rotating shift schedule.

  • Must be willing and able to work overtime, including holidays, weekends, and on short notice call-in as required.

  • Must have the ability to perform the essential job functions of the job in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders on columns, ladders and scaffolds

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, SAP and basic computer skills.

  • Certify, participate and become an active member of our hazmat and fire brigade team (Fire 1081 Exterior).
