District Sign Technician I:Performs entry-level transportation related work installing, repairing, and maintaining traffic signs, mailboxes, and delineators in a district. Work includes maintaining inventory and records of signs and materials and using specialized tools and equipment related to sign installation. Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instructions and standard practices and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor.District Sign Technician II III:Performs skilled transportation realted work installing, repairing, and maintaining traffic signs, mailboxes, and delineators in a district. Work includes maintaining inventory and records, ordering of signs and materials, and using specialized tools and equipment related to sign installation. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details. Essential Duties:District Sign Technician I:Moves equipment, tools, materials, and productsIssues signs to maintenance sections/transportation crews; uses tools and equipment and moced signs and related materialsOperates radiosPerforms and maintains inventory of signsPerforms preventative maintenance on sign truckRepairs and installs signs, supports, foundations and delineators in accordance with Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and other department guidanceAssists transportation maintnenace cres with maintnenace related work as requires; may respond to assist with emergency situations/conditionsPerforms other job responsibilities as assigned District Sign Technician II:The above and:Orders supplies and materials from district shopConducts nighttime luminaire inspections to ensure refelcitivity of signs, deliniators, stripping, and retroreflective pavement markers (RPMs)Inspects roadways to identify sign and deliniator defencies and recommend repairsPerforms other job responsibilities as assignedDistrict Sign Technician III:The above and:May serve as a work crew project lead ensuring work performed meets project specifications.Trains other technicians on sign installation and safety proceduresIssues signs to maitnenance sections/transportation crews; uses tools and equipment and moves signs and realted materialsMaintains expense records and inventory of materials, supplies and equipmentMixes and places concrete for sign support foundations; moves cement bags and other items related to these dutiesOperates a boom and bucket truck and/or specialized sign truck to install roadway signsPerforms other job responsibilities as assigned
