Job Summary

We are seeking a Parks Asset Analyst Intern to join our team and help optimize the management of our park assets. The Parks Asset Analyst Intern works with the Parks & Recreation department to standardize expenditure reporting and maintain accurate and up to date asset data for the department. This position leads the charge of capturing all assets, projects, and programs within the department to ensure the true value is recognized. Work here allows the department to have statistical data which enables it to make the best use of City resources. This position is pivotal in determining the direction of the offerings for the City. This is a seasonal, part-time position.

Duties

  • Performs research and pulls data about events, programs, projects, etc. which allows the Parks and Recreation Director to make decisions in the City’s best interest. Gathers data and produces reports.

  • Works with different divisions within the department to standardize processes to collect data. Helps identify metrics to help support and/or justify current and future offerings, programs, and projects.

  • Utilizes appropriate software to enter data, pull reports, assesses data against other Cities, and presents information that supports appropriate budget expenditures or best practices. Ensures that the department’s asset information is up to date.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Parks, Recreation & Sports Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record (must obtain TX driver’s license within 90 days).

PREFERRED:

  • Understanding of the principles of Asset Management.

  • Analytical experience.

  • Knowledge of municipal government/Parks & Recreation operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The successful candidate should have a sound understanding of the principles of asset management and strong analytical skills. He/she should have the ability to manage and analyze data in an effective and organized manner and identify options, develop conclusions and recommendations. He/she should also have the ability to communicate recommendations in a clear, concise and professional manner, the ability to make professional presentations to senior-level management and elected officials, interface with public, train and teach procedures to other employees, and to work effectively as a member of a team. The abilities to work independently, under pressure, meet deadlines, multi-task, organize, prioritize and be flexible are crucial in this role.

Attendance is an essential function of this position. The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work overtime. This position provides services or performs duties for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations. These may include services or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of your job. In the event of an evacuation, the incumbent in this position may be required to remain to perform needed services.

Overall Position Strength Demands

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
