Kellanova Laboratory Technician in Battle Creek, Michigan

Join our team as a Laboratory Technician and become a vital part of the Salty Snacking team (i.e. Cheez-IT & Pringles & Club)! This position works onsite at our R&D Center in Battle Creek, MI. Support food designers and packaging engineers throughout the product development process. This includes ordering materials, scaling up recipes, setting up food reviews, executing bench top tests and supporting pilot plant trials. You will also take the lead in prototype shipments for our internal and external customers.

A Taste of What You’ll Be Doing

  • Food Designer Support - S upport our Food Design team with food evaluations and preparation. Play a key role in planning for food review meetings through organization, prepping and set up.

  • Support Bench Top and Pilot Plant Testing - Work with food designers and/or packaging engineers to set up bench top testing and/or pilot plant work, as well as collecting data in experimental design. This is inclusive of scale up and experimentation as well as sample analysis submission (paperwork, identification, submission).

  • Manage Ingredients & Specialty Materials – Support and collaborate with the pilot alant area lead. Maintain and support good manufacturing practices and storage in working spaces including packaging materials and ingredients.

  • Preparation, Development, Innovation and Renovation Support – Lead data validation for lab trials and set up. Document data collecting from testing and completing multiple repetitions of testing protocols.

  • Responsible for Shipment of Finished Food – Responsible for coordinating shipments for internal and external customers. This position is a liaison of the supplier account.

    We’re Looking for Someone With

  • High School Diploma

  • Experience with food process, laboratory or related

  • Prior experience with manufacturing practices

  • Must have excellent organizational skills and proficient written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong ability to multitask, respond to last minute requests, and be flexible to changes

  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs. and comfortable working in manufacturing environment conditions
