Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) seeks to fill the position of Restricted Funds and Travel Accountant. The Restricted Funds and Travel Accountant is located in the Division of Finance. This is a full-time position. This position is open for recruitment.

Minimum Qualifications
Required Education:
- Bachelors' degree – Accounting
Required Experience:
- 3 years of grant accounting related experience at a higher education institution.
May be substituted for the required education or experience.
- An associate's degree in accounting, and 4 years of grant accounting experience can substitute the requirement to have a bachelor's degree in accounting.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Proficient working knowledge of accepted accounting/bookkeeping principles and methods preferably with an emphasis on college accounting/experience.
Proficient knowledge of computer applications: Excel, Word, Outlook.
Proficient interpersonal and communication skills in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with peers and subordinate.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education:
MBA, Masters of Accounting
CPA
Preferred Experience:
- 5+ years of grant accounting related experience at a higher education institution.
Job Concepts
The purpose of this position is to maintain the accounting ledgers of the college's grants, sponsored programs, restricted funds, and to timely process travel requests and reconcile travel expense accounts. The responsibilities of the Restricted Funds and Travel Accountant includes, but is not limited to, ensuring compliance with the funding sources' administrative guidelines, timely receipt of revenues, accurate submission of financial reports, orderly closure of projects, and to process, review, and audit employee travel to ensure compliance with state travel guidelines PPM49. This position will report directly to the Controller.

- Monitoring and tracking the financial status of each grant program through the program's life cycle and proving assistance to program managers of the financial program.

- Preparing and maintaining financial documents related to grants, sponsored programs, and other restricted funds. Requesting and drawing down grant/sponsored program revenue in a timely manner.

- Reviewing accounting entries related to restricted funding sources to complete monthly reconciliations and to provide financial guidance and direction to program managers.

- Processing travel authorizations and travel expense reimbursements including cash advances, airfare, registration, credit cards, hotel, and any other travel related expenses for all campuses, including encumbering travel budgets. Reviewing the college's travel log and verifying and reconciling credit card usage. Monthly travel reconciliations to the GL, and quarterly reports.
