Entergy Region Engineering Manager in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

This position can be based out of Baton Rouge or New Orleans, Louisiana or The Woodlands, Texas.

Job Summary/Purpose

Provides leadership, direction and oversight for all Design Engineering activities, including preliminary project scoping and planning, project estimating, engineering and material specifications, drawing development, design reviews and approvals, surveying, geotechnical analyses, regulatory line approval activities, contract management, workgroup direction and strategic planning, configuration management, standards development, and compliance.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  1. Oversees a team of multi-disciplinary engineers and manages third-party engineering services.

  2. Develops and maintains the plan for supporting projects from the development phased through completion with engineering services, either with employees, contracted engineers or through the services of engineering companies.

  3. Serves as the primary interface for the engineering service companies that provide engineering services to projects. Develops and maintains a roster of engineers and technical experts from the third-party suppliers to facilitate effective use of the third-party resources. Works with Supply Chain to administer the agreements with the suppliers and negotiate new agreements when appropriate.

  4. Identifies and initiates process improvements to positively impact financial viability, service and product quality and customer satisfaction.

  5. Tracks work and performance results of engineers and identify training needs.

  6. Provides technical and lead support for the Reliability Lighthouse program. Ensures close coordination with other System and distribution programs to minimize duplication of work while building upon plans cohesively. Provides administrative, management and technical oversight of distribution design and engineering. Ensures the integration of safety, reliability, operability, constructability, and configuration management practices into final products/designs/processes).

  7. Manages group resources to achieve business unit performance goals, such as reliability and financial goals. Manages resources and budget activities to achieve compliance with Entergy's guidelines.

  8. Manages special/large projects including utilizing Entergy’s stage gate process and other ad hoc jurisdictional and system assignments. Provides training and coaching to work group to ensure all employees are familiar with Entergy's policies and procedures required to serve customers and comply with all applicable codes for designing and maintaining electrical distribution facilities.

  9. Accountable for effective Design resource management, including workload distribution, resource productivity, contractor management and employee development. Accountable for the resolution of technical engineering conflicts that affect cost, schedule quality or customer satisfaction.

  10. Develop and implement continuous improvement processes and tools to improve project cost, cycle time and quality.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

Minimum experience required of the position

  • 5-8 years of experience with proven leadership capabilities or significant project management experience.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

  • None

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required of the position

  • Professional Engineering license (will vary state by state on requirements; higher management having PE could eliminate the need at lower level)
