Apollo Behavioral Health Hospital Medical Assistant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Apollo Behavioral Health Hospital, newly constructed in 2018 - state of the art facility conveniently located at 9938 airline highway in the heart of the city at the intersection of I-12 and Airline Hwy.
Medical Assistant (MA) needed to work in an Inpatient Behavioral Health Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA. Full Time with Benefits Mon Fri 8:00 am 4:30 pm.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include but are not limited to the following:
- Maintains inventory of medical supplies, office supplies, equipment, emergency supplies and patient supplies and ensure products are within in expiration dates.
- Maintain office and medical equipment inventory, inspect and label them.
- Check all supplies on the unit and replenish as needed.
- Check all medical and office equipment and get them repaired/replaced as needed.
- Assistance in intake, medical records, utilization review departments as needed.
- Input discharged patient's info into the insurance portals for QAPI.
- Demonstrates teamwork by carrying out routine and assigned tasks within the nursing care and hospital program.
- Assist with calling prior authorizations for medications.
- Assist the Nurse on the unit with any duties of MHT or other as needed.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor.
- Maintain the contracts compliance and building compliance reports.
- Audit the contract services monthly and report the monthly utilization of supplies and services.
- Monitor and collect all PI logs and report to the PI committee.
- Flexible with work schedule when necessary to provide coverage
- Distributes daily internal/external mail and overnight packages; sends and distributes faxes
- Call all PRN staff and verify coverage for shifts and schedule as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Required: Medical Assistant Certification or similar is a PLUS. 3-5 years of prior experience of working in a medical office or a hospital environment.Good computer skills.
