The Faculty Learning & Development Program Director is located in the Digital Learning & Academic Support Center. This is a full-time position. POSITION WILL BE OPENED UNTIL IT'S FILLED!

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, Curriculum & Instruction, Instructional Design, Learning Experience Design

Required Experience:

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience developing and leading professional development in an educational setting

Substitution for the required education or experience.

  • Five (5) years of full-time teaching with digital learning experience may be substituted for the three (3) years' experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Understanding adult learning principles, instructional design, and pedagogical best practices (Advanced)

  • Ability to design, implement, and oversee comprehensive professional development programs (Advanced)

  • Classroom teaching experience in a post-secondary institution (proficient)

  • Administrative experience in a higher education setting (Proficient)

  • Strong organizational and communication skills (Advanced)

  • Strong commitment to and understanding of issues affecting academic achievement and retention of students from diverse backgrounds (Advanced)

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and administration (Advanced)

  • Knowledge of research, trends, and best practices relevant to student success (Proficient)

  • Knowledge of program assessment methods and tools to measure the effectiveness of professional development initiatives (Advanced)

  • Knowledge of computers and software relevant to the position (i.e., Microsoft Office, Canvas, Zoom, web-based tools) (Proficient)

Job Concepts

The Faculty Learning and Development Program Director oversees the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of professional development programs for faculty. This role focuses on enhancing teaching effectiveness, supporting digital and in-person instructional strategies, and fostering continuous professional growth. The Program Director collaborates with academic leadership to identify development needs, designs and delivers workshops and training, and ensures alignment with institutional goals. They play a pivotal role in promoting innovative practices, integrating technology into teaching, and cultivating a culture of academic excellence. This position works in collaboration with Digital Learning and Academic Support staff and College faculty and staff.

40% Professional Development Planning & Delivery

  • Develop a vision for faculty development aligned to BRCC’s Strategic Plan

  • Conduct and interpret needs assessments for faculty development

  • Design, implement, and assess faculty workshops, seminars, and training programs

  • Develop resources and tools to enhance teaching effectiveness and instructional strategies

  • Work closely with academic leadership, department heads, and faculty to identify development needed

  • Partner with campus units to align professional development initiatives with institutional goals

  • Maintain strong communication channels with faculty and staff about available resources

  • Promote and support the integration of digital tools and instructional technology implementation

  • Lead initiatives and workshops to enhance online and hybrid instructional delivery

  • Plan and produce self-guided learning resources

  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Digital Learning & Academic Support Program, faculty, and staff to support student engagement

  • Contributes to the curation of a faculty development library

  • Maintain an active calendar of faculty development opportunities

40% Leadership and Administrative Oversight

  • Develop and implement a long-term professional development strategy that aligns with BRCC’s strategic plan and institutional strategies

  • Establish guidelines for professional development activities, ensuring alignment with academic and operational standards

  • Oversee the budget for faculty development programs

  • Supervise and mentor student workers supporting faculty development

  • Foster a collaborative and results oriented team

  • Coordinate workshops, training sessions, and other initiatives

  • Develop metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of professional development programs

  • Desegrated and analyze data acquired and provide reporting to supervisor and senior leadership

  • Build partnerships with internal stakeholders, external community partners, and industry leaders to directly impact faculty development efforts

  • Ensure faculty development initiatives meet accreditation standards and support compliance

  • Stay current of emerging trends in education, technology, and pedagogy to keep BRCC faculty at the forefront of teaching and learning practices

15% Student Academic Support

  • Facilitate and coordinate workshops on topics that are student driven to improve student retention and success

  • Analyze student performance metrics to identify high need support areas and provide targeted training, workshops, and support related initiatives

  • Develop systems to collect and analyze student feedback related to teaching and learning to inform faculty professional development

5% Other duties as assigned
