Minimum Qualifications

A Master's degree plus five years of professional level experience in education policy development, education law and compliance, K-12 school administration, K-12 school finance, or K-12 school personnel management.

NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

Examples of Work

Manages and directs the administrative functions of the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) to ensure the effective operation of the Board’s policymaking, governance, and legislative functions and ensure constitutional and statutory duties are fulfilled.

Consults with the Board President, Committee Chairs and the State Superintendent of Education to develop Board agenda.

Develops, maintains, and interprets Board policy and regulations.

Acts as the Board’s representative as directed with the legislature, Governor, state agencies, media, local education agencies, and general public.

Oversees duties of the Board office and supervises program, administrative, and support staff to ensure responsibilities are fulfilled.

Arranges for all Board meetings as directed including compiling meeting agenda, overseeing assembly of support materials, and review of Board packets.
