Clermont County Probate Court Application Due By: September 30, 2024 Status: Full-Time, 40hours/week Monday -- Friday 8:00am -- 4:30pm Non-exempt, Unclassified Pay: Negotiable depending on qualifications/experience Job Overview: The primary responsibility of the staff attorney is to provide support to the Judge, Magistrate and clerical staff on all legal matters in the operation of the Probate Court, which is responsible for processing decedent's estates, trusts, conservatorships, guardianship matters, commitments, adoptions, marriage licenses, name changes and other matters. Minimum Requirements: Completion of Juris Doctorate Degree and significant, meaningful experience in working with the public and/or Court on legal matters pertaining to probate matters. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: •Comprehends and analyzes complex legal matters, principals, procedures and other documents (e.g. correspondences, briefs, memoranda, research). •Formulates views, theories and analysis based upon facts of each case and the changing law. •Effectively and efficiently researches legal and non-legal issues. •Prepares timely and effective written materials. •Knowledgeable of the Code of Professional Conduct, Code of Judicial Conduct, Rules of Civil Procedure, Local Rules of the Probate Court, Rules of Evidence and all rules, statutes specific to Probate matters in Ohio. •Works cooperatively with co-workers, Court staff, other judges, attorneys, litigants, witnesses and other court visitors.
