The major responsibility of the Bus Driver / Transportation Specialist is to transport and assist children to and from Head Start program sites. This role includes additional responsibilities for training and overseeing new drivers, maintaining bus records, and ensuring compliance with safety and maintenance regulations. The Bus Driver / Transportation Specialist must comply with all rules and regulations required (e.g., NYS Department of Transportation, Department of Motor Vehicles, NYS Office of Child and Family Services, etc.) and meet the changing needs of the Community Action Transportation Service.
High School Diploma or equivalent Possess and maintain a current valid New York State Commercial Drivers License (CDL) class B, with a passenger endorsement, no restrictions for the number of passengers, and a clean driving record, including all regulatory requirements for driving a school bus Previous experience driving school bus and overseeing other drivers, assisting with routes, safety, training and scheduling Ongoing Ability to pass a driver physical examination (e.g., NYS DMV Article 19A).
