Job Overview:

The Field Engineer applies their conceptual knowledge of the field and with a moderate level of guidance and direction from colleagues and leadership, is responsible for solving a range of straightforward field problems. They will be responsible for analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures, as well as building knowledge of the company, processes, and customers. The Field Engineer understands key business drivers and applies this knowledge to solve problems in straightforward situations through analysis of possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all work is carried out safely in compliance with Health, Safety, & Environment policies and procedures

  • Prepare installation Procedures by the Level II procedure and with due regard for safety. The scope of procedures required will be defined by the Operations Engineer

  • Recommended changes in the technical details, and drawings, where these may result in safer and better installation procedures

  • Develop (or review those provided by others) loadout and sea fastening plans for the transportation of materials/structures to the offshore that facilitate safe and timely installation

  • Actively participate in project Job Safety Analysis, if applicable, and communicate and implement these

  • Review and retain project drawings and documents, report to the Project Manager discrepancies, errors, and omissions concerning the information required to perform the work

  • Ensure the work is within the capabilities of the proposed equipment

  • Maintain project files in the office and the field by project requirements

  • Prepare installation Procedure(s) by the Level II Procedure and with due regard for safety. The scope of procedures required will be defined by the Operations Engineer. As a minimum, the procedure(s) will outline the following:o Methods, techniques, and practices to be used to perform worko The sequence(S) to be used to perform worko Installation aids, temporary works, and consumables required to perform the work

  • Prepare material for construction materials and project consumables, and liaise with the project coordinator for procurement of requirements

  • Issue “Loadout Lists” applicable to the work by the recommended practice

  • Coordinate with Marine, E&M, and Diving Departments to ensure that necessary equipment and personnel are available and ready for the project

  • Witness / inspect pre-rigging, loadouts, and sea fastening, and acknowledge the receipt of fabricated structures, line pipes, and other materials to be installed offshore. Developing checklists and inspecting loadouts by Level II Procedures

  • Coordinate with the Production Engineers and verify loadouts of fabricated items required for the project

  • Liaise with the customer representative and various subcontractor representatives at the offshore site and with the Operation Engineer

  • Ensure the contract/project-related documentation is maintained and/or transmitted to the Customer at the site:o Review Daily Progress Reportso Force Account Sheets and/or Change Order Notification by the contract specificationso As-built documentation (sketches, records, videos) by approved procedures

  • Monitor the progress of the work and site conditions and advise the Operations Engineer of any development that may result in changes to the project and schedule and/or execution sequence

  • Advice the barge Superintendent and/or Barge staff including Subcontractors (such as Surveyor, ROV, NDT, and Pile Monitoring personnel) regarding the planning and execution of the work and the contractual and technical aspects of the work. Issuing field sketches, data sheets, and checklists in the field were required for information purposes for the Barge Staff

  • Participate in the resolution of any technical problems arising during offshore installation and assist in the formulation of corrective action requirements

  • Plan and supervise the execution of pipeline pigging and testing operations by approved project procedures. Responsibilities will include:o Assist with procurement of all consumableso Marshalling of all equipmento Pigging and testing calculations and procedure preparationo Supervise and document all operations operating instrumentationo Complete pigging and testing reports

  • Prepare Post-Job Reports by Level II Procedures

  • Prepare/collate as-built documentation and records by the contract requirements and approved project indices

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

  • 1-2 years of experience in the Offshore industry

  • Working knowledge of design and offshore project execution
