How you will make an impact:

The Finance Director , FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) and Finance Transformation is responsible for financial reporting, analytics, business partnering, and leading financial strategic processes. This critical leadership position provides insights for understanding performance and meeting financial commitments.

Additionally, the role leads the Finance Transformation function, delivering innovative solutions and actionable insights to the MBD and Thermo Fisher Finance organization.

This role is based at our Basingstoke, UK site, with flexibility to work on a hybrid basis (3 days office, 2 days work from home). Some international travel may be required, up to 15% per annum, mainly Europe and the US.

What you will do:

  • Lead, coach and inspire a diverse finance team including Global FP&A and Opex Controllers, Finance Transformation and Data team

  • Drive clarity, alignment, and support within the broader MBD finance organization, aligning teams around shared goals. Build and maintain an impactful, engaged Finance team and champion a culture of continuous change and improvement

FP&A - Reporting & Forecasting

  • Lead the core operating mechanisms, including the AOP, QBR/MBRs, and forecasts in collaboration with the leadership team, functional teams, and finance managers

  • Own end to end operating expenses spending P/L management

  • Take charge of divisional goal setting, budgeting, forecasting, and planning

  • Enhance metric reporting by delivering and optimizing business performance analytics

  • Develop tools to identify, communicate, and recommend corrective actions

  • Drive standardized approaches to reporting and processes across the global finance function, while supporting VP finance and divisional leadership with ad-hoc projects

Strategic Programs

  • Lead Product & Portfolio management team to partner with the business leaders on business case development, project execution and value creation

  • Support business execution through active participation in key business strategy decisions including organic and inorganic Investments

  • Identify complex financial and business risks and develop mitigation strategies

Finance Transformation

  • Lead Finance transformation organization in the development and execution of a project roadmap to modernize, simplify and enhance the work environment of the finance function

  • Champion AI (Artificial Intelligence) and technology solutions for finance team and drive organizational change and adoption

  • Partner with group and corporate teams to align finance transformation strategy including Data Standards/Governance, Hyperion Planning, and Corporate Reporting

How will you get there?

Education

  • An undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting is required

  • An MBA, CMA or CPA is strongly desired

Experience

  • Extensive business and people leadership experience at a senior level

  • Prior experience in FP&A, Commercial Finance, or Operational Finance

  • Experience in the Life Sciences or Diagnostics (IVD) industry is desired

  • Experience with SAP, Hyperion and Hyperion Planning is desired
