JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (WVDL) located in Barron, Wisconsin is seeking applicants for a Sample Receiving Technician. This position at WVDL is pivotal to serving the veterinary diagnostic needs of our clientele through the reception of animals and biological samples, data management, laboratory distribution, and communications. The Sample Receiving Technician provides vital general laboratory support, including maintenance of supply and reagent inventory and assistance to pathologists on the necropsy floor. Overall responsibilities include adherence to biosafety procedures and protocols in accordance with the WVDL quality system, record keeping, maintenance of reagents and supplies, and general necropsy support including sample collection, handling, disposal, and proper cleaning and disinfection of the necropsy floor. Veterinary diagnostics have a major impact on animal health, disease prevention and control, and treatment methods in a wide variety of settings, ranging from companion animals to agricultural production and wildlife management. Barron County and the greater Northwoods of Wisconsin have a strong and diverse presence within these fields, and the WVDL takes great pride in being able to provide local support. The Sample Receiving Technician position is a hands-on opportunity to become a contributing member of our team and to provide critical services to our local, state, and national animal health providers. Responsibilities: Receives, processes, accessions, assigns, enters, and distributes specimens to uphold quality assurance and control to ensure the workflow of the laboratory. 15% Prepares specimens for scientific examination and analysis 40% Performs specimen preparation, intake, screening, and/or receiving/warehousing while using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) 15% Schedules logistics and secures resources for laboratory supplies, and maintains and organizes inventory 5% Develops and updates preparation methods and policies to ensure quality control, quality assurance, and to maintain Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) 5% Collects, prepares, and updates specimen records in various mediums to...
