SASH Mental Health Clinician

POSITION: WCMHS is seeking a part time SASH Clinician to provide direct therapeutic support, including individual, couples, and family therapy, as well as psychosocial services through in-person, phone, and telehealth sessions. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, screenings, and triage to connect individuals with appropriate clinical and community resources. The role also involves facilitating group-based programs on mental health, substance use, aging, and other emotional needs, as well as offering conflict mediation and housing retention support. Additionally, the position requires care coordination through regular collaboration with SASH staff, primary care providers, and other community partners. The candidate will provide training and consultation to SASH Coordinators and Wellness Nurses on mental health, substance use, and behavioral challenges, along with developing and delivering workshops as needed. Administrative duties include utilizing data management systems to track and report program outcomes. This role is integral in ensuring comprehensive support for individuals through a combination of direct services, coordination, and education.

QUALIFICATIONS: The SASH Clinician’s education and work experience will include:

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or closely related field.

  • Licensed OR on the roster of Non-licensed Non-certified Psychotherapist.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, possess an excellent driving record, and have access to a safe, reliable, insured vehicle.

    Effective January 1, 2016, Vermont regulation mandates that individuals who are on the Roster of Nonlicensed Noncertified Psychotherapists, through the Office of Professional Regulation, must be actively working towards professional licensure and be fully licensed within 5 years of Roster date of issue. This rule does not apply to First Call for Chittenden County.

    Additional skills & requirements for this position include:

  • Possesses clinical skills to communicate therapeutically and effectively. Manages crisis situations with efficiency and clarity to all required parties.

  • Takes an active interest in others, their cultural background, needs and perspectives.

  • Manages, organizes, and prioritizes essential functions. Follows agency policy and procedures. Identifies what needs to be done and takes initiative.

  • Understands, supports and meets the needs of clients with compassion and empathy. Navigates system of care across populations. Maintains confidentiality of client information.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Expectation is for clinical documentation to be completed in a timely and organized manner.

  • Expertly use office equipment, hardware and software. Demonstrates knowledge of agency information management and security policies.

    Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely manage escalated behaviors through de-escalation techniques

  • Routinely move up to 25lbs

  • Extended periods in seated position

  • Completion of repetitive tasks

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: This position offers an hourly wage of 26.24. This position will be up to 20 hours a week.
