Overview
The Structures Section of the Agency of Transportation is seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent technical, communication, writing and public speaking skills for the position of Project Manager. The selected applicant will be managing projects designed by consultants and projects designed by our internal staff. The incumbent will be supervising our in-house design teams to ensure that the Structures section delivers their projects on time and within budget. Experience working with consultants and administering consultant contracts is also desired. Incumbent may also be assigned other projects for their independent management. Applicant will need to use VTrans program software such as VPINS, Artemis, Query DB, DocExpress, IDP Exevision to support project management tasks.
Environmental Factors
Duties are largely performed in an office setting; however, some field travel may be necessary. Fieldwork may involve exposure to hazardous materials, traffic hazards and construction sites during all weather conditions; and may involve traversing rough terrain and bodies of water. Some work outside of regular working hours, including attendance at public meetings, may be required. Strong differences of opinion may be encountered on a regular basis and these should be handled in a professional and respectful manner.
