Job Title: Flex Operator

Job Description

The primary responsibilities of the Flex Operator will be to assist the Setup and Maintenance department. This entry-level position involves assisting in the removal and setup of die/tooling for subsequent runs. Responsibilities include removing all wires and hoses to pull tooling and molds out of the press, selecting and placing new tooling within the machine, and hooking up the necessary wires and hoses to prepare the tooling for the Process Technician. Additionally, the role involves cleaning plastic off the floor, machines, and hosing, which may require reheating if the plastic cools down. When not performing setup work, the Flex Operator must be open to working in assembly or quality on the line.

Responsibilities

• Assist Setup and Maintenance department with die/tooling removal and setup.

• Remove wires and hoses to pull tooling and molds out of the press.

• Select and place new tooling within the machine.

• Hook up proper wires and hoses to prepare tooling for the Process Technician.

• Clean plastic off the floor, machines, and hosing.

• Work in assembly or quality on the line when not performing setup work.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical Aptitude - understanding of tools and ability to assemble/disassemble mechanical components.

• Experience with machine operation, troubleshooting, mechanical repair, and hydraulics.

• Ability to use a multi-meter.

• Knowledge of mold change, mold setting, injection molding, and plastic mechanics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience in plastics, mold setting, or general machine setup is a plus but not required.

• A positive attitude and desire to progress into a Setup Technician role.

Work Environment

The work environment is hot, loud, and non-climate controlled with a strong plastic smell. The dress code includes t-shirts, hoodies without strings, sweatshirts, sleeveless tops (not tank tops), jeans, shorts, cargo pants, basketball shorts, and sweatpants. Shorts should reach near the knee, and pants should sit properly at the hip. Closed-toe/rubber sole shoes are required. No dangling jewelry is allowed, and tattoos and hair color are acceptable as long as they are not offensive. The shift schedule is 2-2-3, with options for day (7am-7pm) or night (7pm-7am) shifts.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bardstown, Kentucky.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00
