Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. ​​Within Azure Data, the Big Data Analytics team provides a range of products that enable data engineers and data scientists to extract intelligence from all data – structured, semi-structured, and unstructured. We are in the process of integrating our disparate products into Azure Synapse Analytics with a set of experiences that are meant to simplify and accelerate time to value.   ​

​​The Scope Job team is hiring a Principal Software Engineer to work on the platform that underlies big data processing. The Scope Job team takes the user-provided specification of what to do and translate that into running processes over thousands of machines using resources as efficiently and fairly as possible.

Responsibilities

• Analyze performance of a changes in system involving hundreds of thousands of jobs a day.

• Work with partner team engineers, tech leads, and managers of partner teams.

• Plan safe deployments of changes to a live system

• Use insights from analysis to propose and test potential performance improvements.

• Implement performance improvements and telemetry improvements.​

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

• ​​Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND relevant years of software engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python o OR equivalent experience.​

• C++ coding experience.

Other Requirements

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

• This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
