Global Sustainability Nature Trainee

Internship agreement

Are you a passionate Masters Student or Graduate in the Environmental Sciences looking to gain practical experience in a company that pursues business progress and societal impact?

Then dsm-firmenich is looking for you to support the Global Sustainability team by leading various projects that will contribute to the development of our company’s Nature strategy as part of broader Climate and Nature strategy.

You will become a member of our dynamic Group Sustainability team reporting into our Head of Nature. You will need to collaborate closely with internal stakeholders spanning various business units, sustainability and finance functions. You will be involved in the sourcing and analyzing of data extracted from external sources and insights garnered through our company's robust sustainability programs.

Your Key Responsibilities :

Over the course of your internship, almost other tasks which will evolve with the role, you will:

• Run benchmarking exercises between dsm-firmenich’s Nature related KPIs and that of our peers and customers.

• Undertake an extensive Nature materiality assessment for dsm-firmenich across our impact on land, air and water resources.

You Bring

• Master’s student in the Environmental Sciences.

• Expertise in Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), including use of well-known LCA tools and databases. particularly within a manufacturing type environment.

• Strong analytical skills and ability to derive insights from data.

• Ability to synthesize complex insights into a structured, well prepared deliverables – PowerPoint and/or Word.

• Ability to work effectively with a high degree of independence, in a virtual team setting and stakeholders based in multiple locations.

• Self-starter mentality with a curiosity to dig deeper and explore new concepts and ideas.

• Fluency in English with strong oral and written communication skills.

Location and start date

This full-time traineeship will be based in either the Barcelona or Madrid office in Spain or the Maastricht office in the Netherlands, with some flexibility to work from home (it is also important that you live close to the office to prevent long commuting distance). We are open to discussing the time commitment in relation to writing your thesis. The ideal start-date is 1st of August 2024, with an internship period of 6 months.
