Naval Facilities Engineering Command PHYSICAL SCIENTIST in Bangor, Washington

Summary You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENTIST in the Environmental Division of NAVFAC NORTHWEST. Responsibilities You will analyze environmental regulations to resolve environmental compliance issues (e.g., pollution prevention, hazardous waste management, air emission control) during project execution. You will evaluate project status to ensure environmental projects are completed in accordance with established schedules and budget. You will confirm compliance with environmental laws and regulations to reduce impact on installation operations. You will serve as program spokesperson or representative to inform on and support programs or projects. You will compile written reports to provide leadership with status updates. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applies environmental laws, regulations, policies and procedures including: Environmental Management Systems (EMS), environmental compliance programs related to facilities sustainment and military readiness (such as but not limited to hazardous waste, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act), environmental pollution prevention and sustainability methods and emerging technologies; 2) Applies advanced engineering and scientific concepts, principles and technologies utilized in professional engineering and/or sciences related to environmental sustainability, environmental management systems and shore environmental compliance with a focus on facilities management and operational readiness; 3) Utilizes environmental regulations, policies, management systems and sustainability relative to facilities and operational readiness; 4) Plans, schedules, and budgets for environmental service waste training to meet needs; and 5) Determines training objectives; develops/manages development of lesson plans, student guides and other training materials.
